Cardboard Cathedral

We think this is a great example of how some clever thinking and good design be used to create something really special.

The 2011 earthquake in New Zealand left the cathedral in Christchurch badly damaged (seemingly beyond repair). However it’s now one of the cities most recognisable and unique buildings after being rebuilt with, you guessed it, cardboard!

These pictures clearly show how the main structure is held together with large cardboard tubes, previously used for rolls of carpet, making it quite possibly the best up-cycling project ever.
