Changing perceptions through brand and interior

PAUL SMITH ASSOCIATES (PSA)

PSA is a company of Independent Financial Advisers with a reputation of trustworthiness built over 30 years. Having outgrown their original office space, founder and CEO Paul Smith purchased land and an off-plan building to house his staff and visitors He had the foresight to approach Newenglish Studio at the earliest stage, trusting the complete building interior, including the design of the internal structure to us.

Real WOW factor required

PSA wanted a real wow factor to reflect the success of their well-established business, to welcome their customers and to provide a workplace that is focused on staff wellbeing.

We designed innovative bespoke reception furniture, handmade by a Leicester craftsman, to create an impressive and welcoming place to visit and work. Every element of the interior, including the finishes, fixtures and furniture, creates an aspirational office space raising the bar on what a standard new-build office unit on an industrial estate in Blaby can be.

A great first impression

Staff and visitors enter the building beneath a 3D PSA sign which cuts through the glass above the front doors. The double-height atrium reception area features our innovative, sustainably sourced, wood desk. PSA branding on the back wall that goes in and out of focus as you move from the front desk to the seating area.

The four meeting rooms (with connectivity built into the tables) feel professional, open, transparent and warm. Exactly on brand.

Longevity with sustainability

All of the wood is sustainably sourced, and the furniture is guaranteed for 10 years. Low energy lighting is used throughout with adjustable light levels in the office and meeting room areas.

Each room has frameless full glass walls and a full-height wood door matching the reception desk and rear reception wall. The sustainably sourced wood-shell swivel chairs around the central pedestal circular meeting table, are not only beautiful and comfortable, but also match the wood of the furniture and doors in the building, with their friendly and welcoming organic design .

Furniture glorious furniture

The open-plan staff canteen has large windows, a large midnight blue kitchen, and comfortable Italian designed furniture. Even the toilets were designed with care, to give a luxurious ‘hotel feel’ rather than ‘office feel’. Staff using the gym (complete with shower and changing room) can enjoy countryside views across the reception atrium.

Our rebrand of PSA aligns the successful, trusted business within the marketplace in a way that is also fitting to their new building. The new signage outside and inside the building highlights that the new brand isn’t merely a stamp, but intrinsic to the organisation.

We have rolled out the brand through to every touchpoint that PSA has with its customers, including their stationery and website, and even the china mugs they serve their hot drinks in!

The new design is truly innovative and has impacted so positively on the perception of the organisation with both their staff and clients alike.

I am really pleased to have chosen Newenglish Studio as my design partner for this project. Not only did they show incredible creativity throughout, but they took care at every stage, from initial designs through to hand over of the building complete with the new company brand, taking initiative and looking after the interests of the project to achieve the best outcomes.
